We support the Council in encouraging the delivery of a mix of housing types within existing and future communities in North Somerset. To achieve this objective, the Council should ensure that appropriate sites are identified for the various housing types where provision can be made for the needs of the future population. This includes meeting the needs of families and that of the aging population.

As it is not mentioned can it be assumed that the part of the old H7 policy that has restricted some new builds to retired occupants only is to be abandoned? This policy can have the effect of skewing the age balance in small communities. A live/work requirement is acceptable as this allows for family units of all ages and sizes.

DEPRIVED AREAS This is a cultural problem which no amount of money can put right. Emphasis should be on developing a cultural identity.

Family housing (of mixed size/style) is rightly a priority.
