This policy should be reviewed to take on the new advice and policy guidance set out in PPS4 recently published, in particular policy EC7 therein relating to the planning of tourism in rural areas. It should be made clear that tourism and appropriate leisure uses will not be precluded from any areas the subject of proposals in policy CS19.

The policy should be reworded as: "Both new and improved visitor and tourist facilities and accommodation will be supported across the district provided they:". Para. 3.30 should be amended to recognise: - the continued importance given over to existing tourist facilities in North Somerset - that existing facilities in North Somerset will be supported - that, in accordance with PPS4, the expansion of tourism facilities will be supported in rural areas (in or on the edge of settlements).
