The Document's vision is fairly locally distinctive, but I suggest the cumulative vision is a bit long. Likewise the objectives are fairly clear and well focused, although I would question if car parking is a truly strategic matter.

Para 2.2 - It is pleasing that it makes reference to "safe" communities as this links well to PPS25.

The visions and objectives set out in chapter 2 are well thought out and I would agree with the visions in particular in relation to Service Village, smaller settlements and countryside vision's.

We object to the overall Vision for North Somerset set out in Visions 1-6. Fundamentally the Visions do not reference the need to meet the housing requirements of the District to 2026 based on the requirements and settlement strategy of the PCRSS. We also submit that Yatton should be identified as a market town due to its range of services, employment, housing and accessibility by modes of transport other than the private car - particularly by rail.

Comment by Sustainable Weston - a group hoping to encourage Weston to become a Transition Town. Transition Towns are addressing the twin challenges of climate change AND peak oil. This Core Strategy mentions the former but not the latter. We feel that all the issues surrounding peak oil should be included, now, as a Priority Objective. In addition, we would like to see the vital issue of food security and local food supply more rigorously addressed in terms of land use planning.

Whilst we welcome the progress which has been made on preparing the Core Strategy, we are disappointed with the content of the document and believe the suggested allocations significantly underestimate the level of development required within the West of England sub-region over the plan period.
