The proposed mendip Spring/Churchill development is adjacent to The Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This area is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape sensitive than the green belt immediately south of Bristol. The environmental/ecological damage would be huge and permanent. It would appear that North somerset Council have no green credentials whatsoever.

o The proposed Mendip Spring/Churchill development is adjacent to the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).  This area is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape-sensitive than the Green Belt immediately south of Bristol.  The environmental/ecological damage would be permanent - impossible to mitigate against.

Mendip Spring proposals would destroy landscape adjacent to Mendip Hills AONB which is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape sensitive, with invasive light pollution.

Impacts of the Churchill SDL, including impacts on road traffic in particular, need to be considered on the surrounding area, including the AONB.

Mendip Hills The Mendip Hills are designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Planning Policy is meant to conserve and protect AONB. The proposed development is adjacent to the Mendip Hills and will damage them. The environmental/ecological damage would be permanent-impossible to mitigate against.

The consultation has highlighted the impact of the proposed developments at Banwell and Churchill on views from and into the AONB but has excluded Bristol Airport. Bristol Airport needs to be considered as it delivers an impact on views as well as noise. Important view points in the local landscape, affected by development, should be discussed and agreed by all stakeholders and local community and the ways in which these will be protected should be included in the Local Plan.
