Having considered the design principles which will inform the evolving masterplan for the SDL, further land to the east of the proposed garden village is necessary if those principles are to be accomplished alongside delivering the required number of dwellings.

THIS IS A TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE, UNSUSTAINABLE AND UNDELIVERABLE SDL. We reiterate our total opposition to not only the proposals for Mendip Spring Garden Village (New Town) but also to the Local Plan Issues and Options consultation being carried out before the results of the JSP Public Examination are known.

The document states that “NSC is seeking initial feedback on a range of proposed alternatives.” On the assumption that ‘alternatives’ means alternative SDLs, then this is misleading .

e consider that the concept diagram in the Issues document provides a reasonable starting point to consider how strategic housing development could come forward in this area, however we consider that both of the alternative scenarios should be considered.

the Mendip Spring Garden Village proposal (7.6 of the JSP) will be found to be unsound on public examination due to take place in 2019. The vision for this development is therefore fundamentally flawed.

It is premature to invite comments on these plans before the next stage of the JSP has reported.
