The plan pays little attention to the issue of the proximity of its proposed 'garden villages' to the Mendip Hills AONB.

Pleased to see policy, he AONB Management Plan appears to present an opportunity to ensure the Local Plan policies are mutually supportive of the aims of the AONB Management Plan.

Mendip Spring development is adjacent to the Mendip Hills AONB. This area is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape sensitive than the Green Belt immediately south of Bristol. The environmental/ecological damage would be irreversible. There would be increased pollution in this very sensitive area. The development would also be clearly viewed from many places on the Mendip Hills - an ugly urban sprawl would ruin this beauty. People should be encouraged to walk/cycle to work.

Planning policy is meant to conserve and protect AONBs – promotion of the Mendip Springs SDL will damage this AONB. The area is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape-sensitive than the Green Belt immediately south of Bristol. The environmental/ ecological damage would be permanent.

Proposed Mendip Hills development is next to AONB which is more environmentally, ecologically and landscape-sensitive than the Green Belt immediately south of Bristol.
