Portishead has motorway connections which although not ‘sustainable’ provide routes north/south. Portishead has had considerable development but is yet to see the delivery of the Portishead rail line to Bristol and beyond.

Frequent congestion on the M5 and to Bristol emphasises the importance of having sustainable modes of transport in place before development. Safeguarding and delivering the rail route should have been an imperative.

We would expect the new ‘Visions’ being prepared would respect the landscape and work to enhance the setting of the towns.
